Niké Anna Myers

FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR

Originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Niké has lived in Oakville for the past 20 years raising her three children.
Drawing on her own family caregiver experiences, and over 20 years of related educational and professional experience in the field of Gerontology, Niké launched STRAVA Living Well to provide compassionate, comprehensive, and holistic care services that is needed to help individuals, families and caregivers. Nike’s background includes delivering direct holistic care to clients, health promotion, care navigation, referrals to appropriate health professionals based on needs and professional development training.

A Certified Consultant on Aging (CPCA), Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), Certified Fitminds Coach, Registered Seniors Yoga Teacher (RYT) Niké is well qualified and experienced to lead her team in offering practical solutions and services and trusted guidance to aging adults, families, and caregivers.

In her position as a Care Manager, while carrying the responsibility for day-to-day oversight of frontline workers, planning, designing and implementing services that meet the wide-ranging health and support needs of older adults and their care partners she recognized the growing need for an innovative holistic care model for seniors and vulnerable adults with physical, mental health and social care needs. Her goal is to improve in home and community support services outcomes.

A decade of community practice as a yoga teacher and wellness educator with the Town of Oakville, Senior Services, she founded Strava Living Well and a wellness approach to support and engage people experiencing changes in mobility, brain function and mood. Niké believes that a more directed focus on wellness at home through enrichment solutions can enhance the lives of older adults and provide support for their families and caregivers.

 

Fitminds Certified Provider

STRAVA Living Well offers cognitive stimulation therapy. This involves a set of activities delivered by a certified coach and combines the benefits of social and mental stimulation.

Sessions are tailored to the cognitive ability of the individual and designed to challenge all five areas of cognition: language and music, memory, computation, critical thinking and visual/spatial orientation. CST has proven to have positive effects on cognition and quality of life.

Certified Dementia Care Practitioner

As a Certified Dementia Care Practitioner, Niké places her values of engagement and understanding at the core of her practice with families and community partners. Niké facilitates family caregiver support groups, and works 1:1 to provide emotional support and practical creative non-pharmacological approaches to alleviate everyday challenges associated with dementia.
